10 new specialist homes for people with intellectual disability
St John of God Health Care’s commitment to build 10 new specialist disability homes was recently acknowledged with the celebration of the redevelopment of a property in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
The redevelopment of a property in Mooroolbark located in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne is the first of our 10 new homes.
Each new home, part of our Innovative Housing Strategy, is fitted with assistive technology and equipment.
These technology principles gives our clients more choice and control to live their lives as independently as they can.
With each new build a traditional ceremony and a formal blessing takes place with the turning of the soil.
Lisa Evans Group Director Community Services said ‘When we gather as a community our shared meaning and purpose become an inspiration, and a power to change what is old and build a new and exciting future.’
Lisa Evans, Group Director Community Services along with the leadership team, Robyn Gray, Fr Joseph, Mooroolbark Parish, and Adam Morgan, Project Manager, Bowden Corp Pty Ltd were in attendance.
The ceremony concluded with morning tea at a local community cafe.
