Vision, mission and values

Our Vision

As that of St John of God Health Care, the vision of St John of God Marillac is that:

We are recognised for the care that provides healing, hope and a greater sense of dignity, especially to those in most need.

In practice, this means ensuring we provide services that meet the needs of each individual through effective collaboration and respectful partnership. Good service is integral to how we bring our vision to life and so is delivered in ways which continually recognises and respects the innate dignity and worth of all the people we support.

Our Mission

As a Ministry of the Catholic Church, we model our service on the healing mission of Jesus Christ. As a leading health care provider, this means offering hospitality, hope and healing to all in our care and to the people who choose to work with us.

This mission is lived out through ensuring that our vision and values inform and remain central all our endeavours and decision-making. We constantly review and develop practices and policies so that they do not disenfranchise any person we support or staff member. We encourage all our staff and those who choose to access our services, to view Accord as a community of people with a common purpose, providing respect, compassion, understanding and mutual support for one another.

Our Values

Our core Values reflect our heritage and guide our behaviours. The Values, reflected in the five seeds of our pomegranate logo, (opened to allow the seeds to scatter so providing new life) symbolises the generosity of self-giving of ourselves to the needs of other. Our values define the spirit in which this self-giving is lived out.

Hospitality

A welcoming openness, providing material and spiritual comfort to all.

Compassion

Feeling with others and striving to understand their lives, experiences, discomfort and suffering, with a willingness to reach out in solidarity.

Respect

Treasuring the unique dignity of every person and recognising the sacredness of all creation.

Justice

A balanced and fair relationship with self, neighbour, all of creation and with God.

Excellence

Striving for excellence in the care and services we provide.
